The Finals Projection
The AFL finals involve the top 10 teams after the home-and-away season. Teams finishing 1st to 6th receive a bye, while 7th plays 10th and 8th plays 9th in the Wildcard Round. The two winners join the other finalists in Finals Week 1. Teams finishing 1st to 4th receive a double chance: if they lose their first final, they are not eliminated and instead play in a Semi Final. Teams finishing 5th to 10th are in sudden death from their first match, with every loss meaning elimination. The winners progress through the Elimination Finals, Semi Finals and Preliminary Finals until the two remaining teams meet in the Grand Final to decide the AFL Premier.
